Q: How are materials measured?
A: We sell our products by the cubic yard.
Q: What is a cubic yard?
A: Think of a box 3 feet long, 3 feet wide and 3 feet high. That is how big one cubic yard is.
Q: How many cubic yards are in a truck?
A: We have 12 cubic yard, 18 cubic yard, and 24 cubic yard trucks.
Q: What is lead time for delivery?
A: Normally, one day.
Q: How many wheel barrow loads are there in one cubic yard?
A: About nine.
Q: How much does a cubic yard of materials weigh?
A: Sand – 2500 lbs, gravel – 2700 lbs, garden soil – 1000 lbs. This is approximate depending on moisture content.

Q: How much material do I need?
A: At a depth of three inches, one cubic yard will cover approximately 100 square feet (area 10ft x 10ft). Square feet (sf) is calculated by multiplying length of the area you want to cover, by its width. See below.
1” Deep
324 Square Feet
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash, check and major credit cards.
Q: How thick can I put down sand, dirt or garden soil without smothering (killing) the grass?
A: Professional turf managers recommend “top dressing” less than an inch more frequently rather than applying heavier amounts less frequently. Most homeowners do not have the time for this. However, if you apply more than three inches of material, you will probably kill the lawn beneath and will have to seed or resod over the new soil.
Q: What is your garden soil composed of?
A: Our garden soil contains 70% composted bark fines, 3/8” and less, 10-15% screened sand and 10-15% wood ash. It has a pH of 5.5-6.5.
